Today’s Quote from the Patriot Post

“The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations.” –George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796

A friend of mine in Arizona sent me this musical video and I just had to share it with our readers … This is assumed to be possibly the most recent recording by the “Beach Boys”, so I hope you will enjoy it as I have!

What Congress’ New Year’s Resolutions Should Be

Published Post author

Well here we are, January 1, 2015! This is a day when by custom, many of our residents make resolutions as to changes and goals they commit to make in the forth coming year. What should we expect from our new Congress?

If we all take an honest look at our past history in this country, it is pretty easy to see that many of our elected officials take office just after the new year rolls around. They take an oath at their “swearing in” ceremony. Included in that oath is a pledge to support and defend our constitution. How many current and soon to be newly sworn in politicians do you think will take their oath seriously?

Wouldn’t it be unique if the campaign promises each made were incorporated into the oath of office they had to swear to! As I look back on the past, it seems that for many of them, their campaign promises lasted only until the day after the votes were counted … and then their real agendas floated to the surface!

So I have a suggestion about what congress’ New Years Resolutions should be … Republicans don’t need to come up with a list of 2015 New Year’s resolutions. The promises they made on the campaign trail in 2014 will do just fine!

We all need to hold their feet to the fire, see that they follow through, and if they begin to get off track, we need to “turn up the heat” and remind them that they were elected by us, we the people and our constitution provides not only guidance but authority for us to remove each and every one of them if they are not following their oath to support and defend the constitution.

Repealing Obamacare, securing the border and putting a stop to President Obama’s unconstitutional executive actions come to mind as promises that should be kept.

But like many New Year’s resolutions, campaign promises are often forgotten. And with a presidential election now just two years away, there will be a tendency by some elected officials and party bosses to start making new promises instead of fulfilling the pledges that just got them elected.

I have decided that my New Years Resolution for 2015 will be short and simple … I invite you to join me and resolve the same …
