The Death Penalty Issue Continues

Published Post author

Nebraska,

We have several sources helping us from within the Capitol. No surprise that each has a slightly different take on what to say and where to say it. Below is an update for speaking out on the death penalty. I’m trying to verify a rumor of a press conference and rally at the Capitol – on Wednesday? No responses yet but I’ll forward as they become available. If it happens, visible numbers will make a statement as big as anything we can say. We’ll need you in Lincoln.

Here’s their advice:
“All activity matters but the best is within each senator’s district.”

“Use all methods: calls AND emails AND in person AND paper letters or postcards (courteous, clear, short, to the point).”

“Mail and call your senators. We need to get senators 20-30 emails and calls a day from within their district.”

“Recruit friends you know across the state to help.”

“Contact all the senators. We need to stop defections, especially when they are trading votes.”

“Reemphasize the all activity matters but the best is within each senator’s district.”
And here’s an excellent site put together by Susan Darst Williams http://www.oneminuteonmurder.com/. Great information to help you with the huge amount of disinformation out there.

We need to persuade 6 senators – quickly. Weak knees and vote trading seem to be increasing.

Preserving The Death Penalty

Published Post author

Nebraska,

You’ve been asked for your help preserving Nebraska’s death penalty. With LB 268 http://wevoteproject.org/ne/unicameral/bill/104/lb268, Ernie may finally get his way. And he will cripple our legal system even more than he did last week. Gov. Ricketts may veto the bill but sources fear there are enough votes to override him. So you’re needed to make the difference.

There are Senators pushing hard to defend you: Brasch, Craighead, Friesen, Gloor, Groene, Hughes, Kinter, Kuehn, McCoy, Riepe, Scheer, Schnoor, Watermeier. We owe them our thanks and support.

Beginning Monday (today), we have to persuade 6 senators to either come off center or change their positions. Calls are the best way to do that – lots of them…

The Priority Senators are below. The sooner they receive them, the better. Take the time. Call and email all 6.

I thought I’d share this video report from The Next News Network. After digesting the information, I just can’t stop thinking about why this type of exercise or training must be conducted upon our local areas when the military has had ample training grounds to use since before WW II. What exactly is our military being trained for that requires the use of our privately and publicly owned land? I’d like to know what you think …

A short poem : A Bump In The Road

Published Post author

A SHORT POEM YOU WON’T FORGET

I remember the President referring to the Benghazi
incident as “a bump in the road.” Today I heard an
ex-Navy Seal being interviewed on Fox News regarding a
book he has written about how to handle crisis situations in our
lives. At the end of the interview he asked if he could make a comment
on Benghazi and of course the anchor said yes. He then
thanked Fox News for keeping the Benghazi story in the
news, since other news organizations are not. He said the
Seals who died deserve the public knowing the truth about the whole
affair.

This poem was written by an anonymous MARINE CORPS Officer.

THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI

We’re the battling boys of Benghazi
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.

Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
Defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn’t our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought ’til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn’t give a damn.

Just two dead seals who carried the load?
No thanks to us………we were just
“Bumps In The Road”.

So will this reach every American with a computer? Or do we act like the press and give a pass to the incompetent people who literally sat there in the White House and watched the Seal’s execution on live streaming video and did absolutely nothing? The Obama Administration obviously won’t be held accountable because we apparently accept Hillary Clinton’s statement, “What difference does it make!”

Don’t Stop – More On The Move To Repeal Nebraska’s Death Penalty

Published Post author

Another article from Nebraska Leaders List on the move to repeal Nebraska’s Death Penalty ….

Nebraska,

The fight to preserve the death penalty is not over. For that we can thank Senators Kintner, McCoy and Schnoor as the key leaders.

Why keep going? Because there’s more than just procedure at stake. Have you ever thought about the death penalty and why it’s been used throughout history?

Simple, really. The death penalty is based on the value of human life. Life is so important that if you take it willfully, you should forfeit your own. Harsh? Very, but it recognizes that nothing on earth compares to the value of one person. Unlike nearly every other crime, this one can’t be repaid or undone. Murder is so detestable that it becomes as important to deter as to punish. So the only effective way to deal with murder is to take the life of the murderer, as punishment and as a warning.

And going a step further, the Constitution provides the death penalty for another offense – treason. Founder Noah Webster defined treason as worse than murder – because treason weakens a nation and its government. It opens that nation to forces that threaten the individual lives of the people – the equivalent of mass murder. (And is there any question that Obama and his minions should be tried for treason for their willful corruption?)

Murder or treason, the consideration is the value of individual life. And removing the death penalty cheapens life in 2 ways:

We have already cheapened life with national abortion, and euthanasia will logically follow our national health disaster as care becomes scarce. Remove the death penalty and you hasten the slide.
It turns our values on their head. Once more the welfare of a fraction of a fraction of the population is more important than the majority. You create a new protected class. And again, “protected” becomes “preferred”. The rights of the majority are again taken by a minority. And with the heinous examples currently on death row, you declare that the vilest of the vile are better than their victim.

The arguments against it don’t work – “cruel”, “too expensive”, a cumbersome process? They’re bogus arguments, as liberal arguments must be. And we have far too many senators who either have no moral compass or who are selling you out, trading votes on bills like the Gas Tax or Homosexual Preference, for their own personal gain. That’s not “compromise”, it’s incompetence.

Time to call them out.

They Don’t Get A Pass For Selling Our Foundations!

The Rest Of the Story

Published Post author

This information was delivered to me by Nebraska Leaders List on Saturday, April 18. I apologize for the delay in getting it posted. We all still have time to email our senators about our concerns regarding these issues.

Nebraska,

We lost yesterday – but it was only Round 1 – the first reading of the death penalty repeal. It ain’t over till it’s over. Our job for now is to send a message and keep up the pressure. But there’s a bigger picture.

This was “No Accountability Week” for crime. It’s the week selected to cripple our justice system – and it looks like Spkr. Hadley orchestrated it for that purpose. First, there was LB 173 “Change Habitual Criminal Provisions” http://wevoteproject.org/ne/unicameral/bill/104/lb173 put forward by Chambers (who else?). 173 reduces the number of “habitual” offenses subject to stricter sentencing from over 200, to just 9! County prosecutors personally went to Lincoln, asking not to lose this tool. They maintain they will be crippled in dealing with hardened offenders by losing this option. But no one listened (apparently by design) and the bill passed.

Then came the death penalty. Apparently, Hadley stacked these bills together, to overwhelm the AG’s office and limit their ability to oppose them. That alone is telling. It’s the classic liberal tactic of overwhelming the system so their opposition is forced to defend multiple fronts at one time. So the liberals and soft-on-crime senators spent the week deciding, on your behalf, that you can live with more crime.

And a surprising number of senators backed both bills: Baker, Campbell, Coash, Crawford, Al Davis, Haar, Hadley, Hansen, Hilkemann, Jerry Johnson, Kolterman, McCollister (who ran as a strong conservative?), Schumacher, Williams and others. No question as to their stance on crime. If they’re your senator they deserve to be called out with a phone call.

And a couple of tidbits at no extra charge:
It’s likely that a significant number of senators sold you out, trading their votes for someone else’s support on their pet bill, as we wind down the final weeks of the session.
And this should get you on your phones and emails this weekend:

Rumor has it that your opponents wanted to avoid any vote yesterday. Why? Because voting Monday would give all next week to move on to other things and deflect you. BUT voting yesterday meant that’s the last thing you remember from this week – and they really didn’t want to face you this weekend, knowing how popular the death penalty is!

With that in mind, the senators below should come back to full voice mail and email systems on Monday. And if I had their home phone numbers to contact them this weekend, I’d list them just for fun.

This Is Still Winnable. Be Polite. Angry, Rude Emails Hurt Us All. But Don’t Give Them Any Slack. Insist With Class.

Reminder Regarding Repeal Of Death Penalty

Published Post author

A reminder from Nebraska Leaders List … If you haven’t called the senators listed below, now is the time to voice your opinion!

Nebraska,

I apologize in advance for this one but it has to be said to illustrate the insanity of the debate in Lincoln. What do the following examples have in common?:
A small child is murdered and pieces of his body fed to dogs.
Another child is placed in a microwave, which is then turned on.
In a ritual killing a man’s fingers are systematically severed and his arms and legs broken, after which he is skinned alive and finally dies of wounds suffered from being impaled with a broomstick.

Heard enough? Not yet. Each of the 3 who did the above sits on death row and will be spared the death penalty if it is overturned tomorrow. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? What makes no sense is how a group of senators can be so enthralled by saving the state money or “compassion” that they look at cases like these and demand their lives to be preserved. To what end?

The arguments are frustrating:
The most pathetic is “cost”. When cost becomes a barrier to doing the right thing you have a serious ethical problem. And to be so intellectually lazy that they abolish the penalty rather than fix the problems is the symptom of politicians who will not represent.
With all due respect to our Catholic allies, the argument of “natural birth to natural death” is a doctrine you will not find supported by the Bible. If you read the entirety of what the Bible has to say, you will find that one of the very first commands God gave to man’s government was to deal with evildoers, with express authority to take life when justified.
The arguments of the death penalty being racist, inhumane, revenge-oriented, etc., won’t stand the scrutiny of facts.
And how about all the senators opposing the death penalty answering the question we asked yesterday: How can a society that has mercilessly killed over 60 million babies pretend, without the slightest twinge of conscience, that it is wrong to kill a fractional percentage of the worst criminals who have been through due process, with every legal defense and appeal possible? If the senators who vote to remove the death penalty say they also oppose abortion, I submit that they are frauds.
The sad truth is that support for repeal is gaining traction. If you don’t stand up LOUDLY & FIRMLY, another plague of collegiality is going to strike. Yesterday’s vote took away most of the “repeat offender” options judges see as a key tool to punish chronic offenders. The message then – and which will be amplified if we repeal the death penalty – is that your senators believe you can live with more crime. Accountability for doing wrong is slowly and steadily being gutted.

The only 3 senators who appear to be actively fighting this are Kintner, Schnoor and possibly McCoy, though McCoy showed signs of weakening today.

Nebraska, you will get what you demand.

Call, ask, challenge, demand an explanation of the senators below and why they are considering opposing the will of Nebraska. Don’t settle for weak-kneed excuses.

Be polite but don’t be afraid to be blunt. They’re not listening.

It’s Time They Did … Call NOW!

Nebraska Legislators Consider Death Penalty Issue April 16th

Published Post author

This Just In From Nebraska Leaders List …..

Nebraska,

The Death Penalty comes up THURSDAY (tomorrow) for debate. There is still a level of shock and surprise on this one, that so many “conservative” senators are considering repealing it.

The disconnect comes from a simple question: How can a society that has mercilessly killed over 60 million babies who were never accused or provided a voice on their behalf, now pretend, without the slightest twinge of conscience, that it is wrong to kill a fractional percentage of the worst criminals who have been through due process, with every legal defense and appeal possible?

The arguments of the death penalty being racist, inhumane, revenge-oriented, etc., are valid only in the minds of those who refuse to listen to facts. Cost or budget considerations are an excuse for not thinking and acting on the real problems.

What more is there to say? Call and ask – challenge – why in the world are those who are supposed to “represent” Nebraska suddenly so bent on taking away what you, Nebraska, have repeatedly said you want?

Here are the key senators you need to contact, roughly in order. Start at the top and work your way down. Call, write, challenge. Don’t settle for weak-kneed excuses.

Repealing the Patriot Act – a Bipartisan Proposition?

Published Post author

I just read this article written by Onan Coca and published on Eagle Rising web site. I think it is worth time to read and consider.

*************************

One of my favorite Congressmen, Thomas Massie (R-KY), recently appeared on the Glenn Beck radio program to discuss his efforts to repeal the Patriot Act. For years, this has been a bit of a controversial position for Republicans to take because they worried that they might seem weak on defense, or even appear to be a liberal who attacked President Bush at every opportunity. For many anti-Patriot Act Republicans, that’s just not the case – many of us are against the Patriot Act simply because it is an infringement on our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms… and those should be protected at almost any cost.

Yesterday, Glenn Beck and I talked about the Surveillance State Repeal Act (H.R. 1466), the bill I introduced with Congressman Mark Pocan (D-WI) to repeal the ‪#‎PatriotAct. Listen to the podcast and let me know what you think in the comments below!

The Patriot Act contains many provisions that violate the Fourth Amendment and have led to a dramatic expansion of our domestic surveillance state. Our Founding Fathers fought and died to stop the kind of warrantless spying and searches that the Patriot Act and the FISA Amendments Act authorize. It is long past time to repeal the Patriot Act and reassert the constitutional rights of all Americans.

We’re not giving up. People are fed up. They want their privacy back.

Today’s Quote from the Patriot Post

“The ultimate authority … resides in the people alone. [T]he advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation … forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any…” –James Madison (1788)

Today’s Quote from the Patriot Post

“As a man, who is attached to a prostitute, is unfitted to choose or judge of a wife, so any prepossession in favor of a rotten constitution of government will disable us from discerning a good one.” –Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776

A Little Non-Political From the Nebraska Leaders List

Published Post author

Nebraska,

This is totally non-political. If “churchy” emails don’t appeal to you, you might want to hit the Delete key now.

We keep looking for solutions to the mess we’re in as a nation. Most of us accept that DC is not the answer. Watching our conservatives in the Unicameral shredded at the first sign of unpopularity last week (aka The E affair) has to make you believe Lincoln is little better. So excuse my bad attitude but I don’t see any hope on the horizon, short of stirring up the people and bringing them back to an awareness of their core and where they came from. Interestingly, that may be happening, though not like we would think or plan it.

You’ve probably heard of the TV shows “Survivor” and “Shark Tank”? Know who’s behind them? Mark Burnett, whose wife is Roma Downey (from the Touched By An Angel series). I mostly assume Hollywood is a lost cause but Burnett & Downey are devout Christians and determined to make a difference by what they do.

So they produced “The Bible” last year – the hit series that overshadowed all its prime-time competition. On normally-hostile network TV, they captured 100 MILLION viewers, with another 100 Million DVD sets sold. That was enough to convince them that America was interested in (if not hungry for) the message of Christianity.

So they produced a follow-up “AD – The Story Continues” – that will run for 3 months, starting Easter Sunday evening. NBC will air it and estimates for this series are 130 Million+ viewers. At this link http://www.davidjeremiah.org/site/default.aspx you can find 3 things: the original interview with Burnett & Downey (50,000 views in the first 3 days posted); a book written by David Jeremiah to go along with and explain each portion of the series; links to his sermon series each Sunday, that coincides with the series. This last week we had the chance to meet and speak with Jeremiah, listen with him to the interview, etc. He has a real burden for this nation and this is part of his effort.

The point is: this is a very well done, widely received & applauded series. This new installment will reach 30% more people. And right behind it will be another. There is even a re-make of Ben Hur in the works that should be a true spectacle.

I respect the fact that there are many non-Christians on this list but don’t forget one thing: no matter your beliefs, there is no escaping that the founding of America was on Judeo-Christian values. “AD” is an essential link in that story.

We’re still trying to right the wrongs by using the system. But that’s only a surface victory if we can’t win America back to its foundations. This series is an indirect way of reconnecting America to her origins – and the hunger seems to be there.

I have no idea as to what, if any, difference it will make. But it’s another way – another point of connection.

Regardless, it won’t be wasted.

Today’s Quote from the Patriot Post

“This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil and religious liberty from every part of Europe. Hither have they fled, not from the tender embraces of the mother, but from the cruelty of the monster; and it is so far true of England, that the same tyranny which drove the first emigrants from home, pursues their descendants still.” –Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776

” HILLARY CLINTON EXPOSED “

Published Post author

As I watched this video today, I knew it was important to share with all our visitors and supporters, not because it is so unveiling about Hillary and the Clinton Political Machine, but because to me, as I stood back and looked at the “Big Picture”, it reveals the inherent degeneration of our political system as a whole here in the US and further enunciates the need for true patriots to stand hand in hand and constitutionally take back our country. As the video closes, you will hear that the
“Issue here is Liberty”
and that is what we are all about!

Today’s Quote from the Patriot Post

“Every thing useful and beneficial to man, seems to be connected with obedience to the laws of his nature, the inclinations, the duties, and the happiness of individuals, resolve themselves into customs and habits, favorable, in the highest degree, to society. In no case is this more apparent, than in the customs of nations respecting marriage.” –Samuel Williams, The Natural and Civil History of Vermont, 1794
