Don’t Stop – More On The Move To Repeal Nebraska’s Death Penalty

Another article from Nebraska Leaders List on the move to repeal Nebraska’s Death Penalty ….

Nebraska,

The fight to preserve the death penalty is not over. For that we can thank Senators Kintner, McCoy and Schnoor as the key leaders.

Why keep going? Because there’s more than just procedure at stake. Have you ever thought about the death penalty and why it’s been used throughout history?

Simple, really. The death penalty is based on the value of human life. Life is so important that if you take it willfully, you should forfeit your own. Harsh? Very, but it recognizes that nothing on earth compares to the value of one person. Unlike nearly every other crime, this one can’t be repaid or undone. Murder is so detestable that it becomes as important to deter as to punish. So the only effective way to deal with murder is to take the life of the murderer, as punishment and as a warning.

And going a step further, the Constitution provides the death penalty for another offense – treason. Founder Noah Webster defined treason as worse than murder – because treason weakens a nation and its government. It opens that nation to forces that threaten the individual lives of the people – the equivalent of mass murder. (And is there any question that Obama and his minions should be tried for treason for their willful corruption?)

Murder or treason, the consideration is the value of individual life. And removing the death penalty cheapens life in 2 ways:

We have already cheapened life with national abortion, and euthanasia will logically follow our national health disaster as care becomes scarce. Remove the death penalty and you hasten the slide.
It turns our values on their head. Once more the welfare of a fraction of a fraction of the population is more important than the majority. You create a new protected class. And again, “protected” becomes “preferred”. The rights of the majority are again taken by a minority. And with the heinous examples currently on death row, you declare that the vilest of the vile are better than their victim.

The arguments against it don’t work – “cruel”, “too expensive”, a cumbersome process? They’re bogus arguments, as liberal arguments must be. And we have far too many senators who either have no moral compass or who are selling you out, trading votes on bills like the Gas Tax or Homosexual Preference, for their own personal gain. That’s not “compromise”, it’s incompetence.

Time to call them out.
